Commemorative Air Force

 

1. To acquire, restore, and preserve in flying condition a complete collection of combat aircraft which were flown by all military services of the United States and selected aircraft of other nations for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations of Americans.


2. To provide museum buildings for the permanent protection and display of these aircraft as a tribute to the thousands of men and women who built, serviced, and flew them.


3. To perpetuate in the memory and in the hearts of all Americans the spirit in which these great planes were flown in the defense of our nation.


4. To establish an organization having the dedication, enthusiasm, and esprit de corps necessary to operate, maintain, and preserve these aircraft as symbols of our American military aviation heritage.

Remembering Market Garden Through Apollo

The Highland Lakes Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force at the Burnet Airport is presenting a museum seminar and fly-in on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011.  This aviation seminar is "Remembering Market Garden through Apollo" and will focus on events from WWII through the NASA Apollo program with speaker sessions starting at 11:00 a.m. and concluding about 3:00 p.m. There will be a break for lunch.  Admission includes a barbeque lunch catered by the famous Burnet Feed Store. Tickets, are $20.00 if purchased in advance, or $25.00 if purchased at the door.

A silent auction will also be held that day.  Proceeds from the auction will be used to maintain the Burnet CAF museum and planes.  Any questions can be directed to the Highland Lakes Squadron Museum at 512-756-2226. CAF Hangar, Burnet Airport,  2402 S. Water Street, Burnet, TX 78611

The seminar will take place at the Highland Lakes Squadron Museum/ CAF hangar at 2402 S. Water St. on the grounds of the Burnet Airport.  Museum admission is included in the price of the seminar. The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. and run to 3:00 p.m.
